We get a see at Alfred Molina's Doc Ock in mechanical arm-swinging execute, as well as some charming shenanigans from Doctor Rum, who appears to accidentally blast the Spider-rhyme wide open while trying to erase Saint Peter the Apostle's secret identity from public knowledge.
There are also teases for Green Hob, Sandman, and Lizard – which means we might be seeing the Minatory Cardinal make their MCU debut – and though speculation was overabundant that Charlie Cox's Daredevil mightiness be hidden in there, IMAX footage has officially debunked that theory. Sony and Marvel were both quick to take down any leaks that appeared on social media, but that couldn't stop ravenous fans quest out illicit agency of sighted the dawdler. Spider-Man: No Way Home cast
Tom The Netherlands is back American Samoa Peter/Spidey – but he might non be the only web-slinger in Spider-Man 3. It has been reported that Andrew Garfield is aft, reprising his role from The Amazing Spider-Man movies, while original along-projection screen Wanderer-Man, Tobey Maguire, remains in negotiation to return.
However, despite these reports, Tom Holland has denied that Maguire and Garfield volition return. "Nary, no, they will non equal appearing therein film," he said. "Unless [Wonder] has hidden the most massive piece of information from me, which I think is besides big of a secret for them to keep from me. But American Samoa of thus far, no. It'll be a continuation of the Spider-Man movies that we've been making."
Andrew President Garfield has as wel denied He'll be back, reacting to a photo purportedly of him along-set, telling Jimmy Fallon: "I detected about it, and I did see it. And it's a photoshop." He also told Newsweek: "It's an exciting idea that people are kind of obsessing finished and I would comprise overly if I was, you know, just, out there not knowing what was going connected. But I do know what's going along and I'm afraid IT's going to be very disappointing for people."
Kirsten Dunst has confirmed that she won't return equally The Virgin Jane (despite a since-deleted IMDb listing suggesting she'll look), while Emma Stone has denied she'll personify back as Gwen Stacy: "I have heard those rumors. I don't know if I'm supposed to suppose anything, but I'm non [involved]").
There does seem to personify a multiverse in the works, though. Jamie Foxx has confirmed that he will portray Electro, returning as the character following The Amazing Spider-Man 2. The MCU version of the villain is expected to be a different incarnation of the reference. Foxx announced the casting in a now-deleted Instagram post, captioned: "Tell Spidey let's work it punt! Super excited to [personify] part of the new marvel Spider-Man new installment… Can't wait for y'all to check the new one. And I won't beryllium blue in that one!! But a thousand percentage badass!"
Alfred Molina is also reprising his role of Doctor Devilfish – last seen in Wanderer-Man 2, when he went up against Maguire's version of the web-slinging hero. He's even confirmed his digitally de-worn return in a new interview. Willem Dafoe is also rearwards equally Dark-green Goblin, from Sam Raimi's first Wanderer-Man moving picture. In that location's also speculation (thanks to the pok) that Thomas Haden Church is back as Sandman from Wanderer-Man 3, and Rhys Ifans may regress from The Amazing Spider-Man. These are, however, unconfirmed (for the bit).
Then there's J.K. Simmons reverting as J. Jonah Jameson, having already played an jump version of the character in Far From Home. "Well yeah, [I'll beryllium back American Samoa Jameson] that's the short reply," the actor told The Jess Cagle Show. "There is a in store for J. Jonah Jameson after a individual-year hiatus. Helium showed upward very briefly for those who were wise plenty to stay through the credits of Far From Home … There is i more J.J.J. appearing in the nates, and from what I'm listening there's a plan for yet another. So hopefully J.J.J. will continue now and forever."
Charlie Cox, World Health Organization played Matt Murdock/Daredevil in the Netflix series, has also reportedly been spotted connected the set. Again, He has denied involvement in the motion-picture show, telling Forbes of Temerarious's fate: "My answer is no remark. I don't know what's going away to happen. I genuinely don't know."
How leave this wholly be tied together? Benedict Cumberbatch will appear Eastern Samoa Doctor Strange, replacement Iron Man as Peter's wise man (Benedict Wong will also be back as Wong). We also know that Spider-Man 3 will link to Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Rabidity, as confirmed by Kevin Feige. That Doctor Strange sequel wish free in March 2022, subsequently Spider-Man 3. Expect, then, Spider-Man's multiverse shenanigans to touch the wider MCU, and perhaps explain how Michael Keaton's Vulture testament appear in the not-MCU flic, Morbius.
We arse also expect some familiar faces from Homecoming and Far From Home in the Wanderer-Man 3 cast. Zendaya returns as MJ, Jacob Batalon as Peter's bestie Ned, Marisa Tomei as Aunt May, and Tony Revolori is expected to appear as Flash Thompson. J.B. Smoove has besides confirmed that he'll be back for the threequel – the actor plays Mr. Dell, one of Peter's teachers. Phew. That's one big cast.
Wanderer-Man: Nobelium Way Home plot
Thanks to the house trailer outlet, we're starting to get an idea of what power be next for St. Peter Dorothy Rothschild Parker.
In the consequence of Spider-Man: Far From Home, Peter is suspected of Mysterio's hit, and the whole world knows helium's on the QT Spidey. He goes to Doctor Strange for help, but the spell goes wrong, which seems to open the door to the multiverse – and a whole host of supervillains.
The official plot synopsis reads: "For the maiden sentence in the cinematic chronicle of Wanderer-Human being, our friendly neighborhood hero is unmasked and nobelium longer able to separate his normal life from the high-stakes of being a Super Hero. When he asks for help from Doctor Strange the stakes become even more parlous, forcing him to discover what information technology really means to be Spider-Man."
Plenty of other details happening the moving-picture show have hit the cyberspace, too, which help to fill out the picture even to a greater extent. Tom Holland previously teased what's connected the card game for St. Peter's love life: "As to the relationship between Peter and MJ, I'm non too sure what it will be." He also described the pic every bit "dead insane," likewise as "something very specialized" and "very different."
That's not all Holland has said of the film. He posted a film to Instagram of him in wide-cut costume, captioned with: "Today was easily one of the highlights of my career. For those of you that were thither, you know what I'm talking about and for those of you that weren't, you better buckle high!!!" He's also called the movie "the most ambitious standalone superhero flic ever made," adding: "You sit pull down and you translate the playscript and you see what they're trying to do, and they are succeeding. It's really impressive. I've never seen a standalone superhero movie quite like information technology." His atomic number 27-star Benedict Cumberbatch backed up the comments: "[No more Fashio Home] has got zealous ambition. I harbour't seen it, merely by all accounts I imagine IT's achieved it... I'm pretty doomed information technology'll be a hit."
Holland as wel excited the tone of the pic – and IT's not what you mightiness expect from the Spider-verse. "What people will be really surprised about is that it's not fun, this film," He told Gross Film. "IT's drab and it's sad, and it's going to Be genuinely affecting. You're going to see characters that you love devour things that you would never wish for them to pass over. And I was just really crazy to kind of lean into that side of Peter Parker.
"Peter Parker is always someone who's looking up. He's always really positive. He's always like, 'I posterior fix this. I terminate do this.' Whereas in that film, he feels like helium's met his match. He's like, 'I don't make love what to do.' That was an aspect of the character that I'd never seen before, and I was really, actually excited to try out to tackle.
"I haven't seen the motion-picture show hitherto but I've seen pieces of the film, and information technology's the superfine work we've ever done. It's the outdo Spider-Man film that we've always made. I really wear't think fans are in the least ready for what they've put together. I know that I'm not at the ready, and I know that IT's going to beryllium fell."
Spider-Man 3 will be filming in two locations previously used for high shoal scenes in the first two movies. This has already raised some questions, as Peter's identity was exposed at the end of Far From Dwelling house and, if that wasn't enough, he was framed for Mysterio's murder. With all that in mind, it's not crystalise how Spidey leave be returning to schoolhouse – though it's always possible that these scenes won't include St. Peter the Apostl, Oregon could happen after those issues are cleared prepared. The school was apparently – and intriguingly – described by Ian Easterbrook, location handler for the movie, as "vital to the achiever of this next film." What that could skilled is anyone's guess. Francois Jacob Batalon has also shared some photos, seemingly all from the set of Spider-Man 3, which suggest that Peter will be bet on at school – and and then the trailer confirmed it, though we still don't sleep with how that will work in the movie.
More set photos have discovered that the film will be set over the vacation period, and we also got a look at the potential radioactive dust of Far From Home's post-credits scene, teasing an ongoing battle between Spidey and Mysterio in the court of world opinion. A accomplishable Marvel's Spider-Man video game Easter egg has also been spotted, the appearing of F.E.A.S.T., which could link to Miles Morales or Mister Negative.
There's also mass of speculation virtually the multiverse, and how that could factor into the threequel. Though Sony denied the rumors that Saint Andrew President Garfield and Tobey Maguire would be back as their respective versions of Spidey, casting Jamie Foxx as Electro, Alfred Molina as Doctor Devilfish, and including Medico Strange up of his own sequel – titled Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness – does indicate multiple universes will personify coming into bring up. As does Molina telling Variety that his character appears just later on his fictive 'demise' in Sam Raimi's Spider-Man 2... and then Strange straight up mentions the multiverse in the trailer, so thither's that.
Adding more fuel to the fire, Sony Pictures Motion Radical president Sanford Panitch has also suggested the direction of Sony's super-verse would be clearer put up-No Way Home. "There really is a plan," he said. "I think now maybe information technology's getting a piddling more clear for people where we'ray orientated and I think when None Path Home comes out, straight more will personify revealed." Atomic number 2 added of the partnership with Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige and Marvel: "We have a great family relationship. There's lots of opportunities, I think, that are departure to happen."
Evidence for the multiverse continues to pile up with ware teasing "potentially multiversal consequences" – and also potentially pesky the Sinister Six. That supervillain team has featured Mysterio, Electro, and Doc Octopus, among others. Interestingly, Mysterio is part of the ware, despite his death in Far From Internal.
As a matter of fact, IT looks like Jake Gyllenhaal's character could personify a tonality musician in the threequel, from beyond the grave or not. Promotional art for the movie features the slogan "we believe Mysterio," referring to the baddie frame Spidey for hit. More nontextual matter also seems to support Simon Peter will be using web-shooters increased with Doctor Strange's magic trick powers.
Speaking of the Sorcerer Ultimate, set photos that appear to show Spidey and Strange together, with Peter waving at the other hero. We recognize the two will glucinium workings together thanks to the trailer, but where this scene takes place in the movie is practically impossible to guess. There's too another F.E.A.S.T truck in the background.
As for J. Jonah Jameson returning, some other multiverse-agnatic caveat is that Feige told Screen Ranting: "It was one of the earlyish ideas when we started impermanent with Amy and Sony connected the Spider-Valet de chambre enfranchisement and the kind of things we desired to coiffe. A jr. senior high school-based Peter, taking him to places he hasn't been before, interacting with the other MCU characters. J. Jonah Jameson was one of them. Helium wasn't in either of the two Amazing [Spider-Man films], so we felt like we had to do that at some point."
He added: "Information technology can be the unvarying actor with that fairly similar voice inflection, merely with a totally distinguishable persona. That had never been done before. We really liked the idea that it's a new Jameson, he's not from another dimension or multiverse or something like that. It's a new Jameson in this world played by the same actor." Still, it's certainly an interesting contact.
JK Simmons has besides suggested this is an alternate version of Jameson, persuasive Den of Oddbal: "To have the opportunity to rather Doctor of Osteopathy a bring up of the character, I was eager to hold the line to the things I truly treasured about it and totally open to rental locomote of some of that, and realizing we are in a more updated version of that universe." He added: "Hopefully, we found the sweet spot in that location." As for the differences between the two Jamesons, Simmons commented, "Mostly just the hair, OR the deficiency thereof."
There's another expected crossover on the horizon, as well: one with Sony's Spitefulnes. Feige previously said: "[Wanderer-Gentleman] also happens to be the solely paladin with the superpower to cross cinematic universes, so as Sony continues to develop their own Spidey-verse line you never know what surprises the future might obtain." Interestingly, the first trailer for Venom 2 featured a relate to Sam Raimi's Spider-Man trilogy, and a UK cinema concatenation has included JK Simmons in the cast list for the movie.
Then there's Sony's upcoming Morbius movie apparently linking to the MCU, too, with mavin Jared Leto also commenting on the film existence part of an "expanding universe" – so a crossover doesn't seem that far outside the realms of possibility. Tyrese Gibson, who will appear in the upcoming Sony movie Morbius, commented that the movie was in the MCU, specifically the indistinguishable universe as the Avengers – but Sony swiftly denied this was the case.
Along with all this, we've also gotten a look at whatever stunt forg performed for the pic. Footage appeared to show Zendaya and Uncle Tom Holland – or their stunt doubles – swinging from a platform of some kind, with MJ apparently in the same outfit atomic number 3 she wore at the end of Far From Home. It's difficult to know surely considering the distance, nonetheless. We've also got a glimpse at another web-slinging stunt, though this one gives away even less some the movie. Plus, Holland released a picture of him in costume on set, double-masked awake.
Netherlands also shared in a video along his Instagram that he'd received the Spider-Man 3 playscript connected an iPad – and pretty hilariously seemed to offend the device while filming.
Wanderer-Man: No Direction Home is the final stage of a trilogy
In a new interview with Entertainment Weekly, Holland calls Spider-Man: No Fashio Home a "finish" to the history that started with 2017's Spider-Man: Homecoming. And though the upcoming film First Baron Marks of Broughton the end of Holland's Spidey contract, the actor International Relations and Security Network't terminative whatever doors completely, or at the very least isn't locking them.
"We were all treating [No Way Home] as the end of a franchise, LET's say," he said. "I call up if we were lucky sufficiency to dive into these characters again, you'd comprise seeing a very different variation. It would no longer represent the Homecoming trilogy. We would give it roughly clip and try to build something distinct and tonally change the films. Whether that happens or not, I don't know. But we were decidedly treating [No Fashio Home] like it was orgasm to an end, and information technology ma like it."
And that's scarcely about everything to bed more or less Wanderer-Man: No Way Home! For more on Marvel's upcoming projects, feel out our guide to Thor: Love and Skag.
